Overbury Stud's new stallion Le Brivido (Fr) has had his first mare tested in foal. Espionne (Fr) (George Vancouver), a winner over a mile at Chantilly as a 3-year-old for her breeder, Thierry de La Heronniere, was the first mare to be covered by the young son of Siyouni (Fr). She is one of a number of French-based mares to be visiting Le Brivido in Gloucestershire.
“I am a big fan of Siyouni—he really is one of the very best stallions—and Le Brivido is all Siyouni,” said de La Heronniere of Haras d'Ellon, who has invested in a breeding right in Le Brivido.
His fondness for Siyouni is understandable as he is the breeder of one the stallion's earliest stakes winners, the G2 Prix Coronation victrix Volta (Fr), who was also third in the G1 Prix de Diane and runner-up in the G1 Prix Rothschild. De La Heronniere also celebrated the victory on Tuesday of his progressive Siyouni filly Sea Watch (Fr), who won for the second time at Chantilly.
